![]() Roughly one year ago, I and my friends sat inside M’s pub (R.I.P) and told me that I love burgers so much I should write a blog about them. The burger- On this, the closest thing we are going to get the one year anniversary of Panda’s Burger Blog, we made a triumphant return to Omaha to have what I would describe as the best burger I have eaten in a long time. This burger boasts- cheese, ham, sunny-side up egg, mustard, truffle mayo, and green onions burger pandasburgerblog goodburger dlux madison wisconsinĬroque Garcon Burger- Block 16, Omaha, NE P.S.- I know this post was mostly about whether this burger did or did not have onions on it, but don’t be mad, cause I remembered to take a picture! Look at those tasty fries. Yum! Word to the wise, though, the place is a little exspensive. You have do order them special, because they don’t automatically come on the side with your burger (Hey, I said the place was upscale, “would you like fires with that?” not a given here) but they come with a bunch of fancy toppings like bacon and blue cheese (what I had) sharp cheddar and green onion, and parmesan and truffle. But one you get that figured out, the Dlux is a trendy little place which is a great place to dress up and get a nice dinner and drinks with friends (Hi Dustin and Kassie!) While the DLux is an upscale burger restaurant, their real claim to fame is their fries. The restaurant: The Dlux is located in the capitol square in downtown Madison, so, as anybody familiar with the are knows, parking is a little tricky. Please people, season your burgers when you make them at home. The patty on this burger was also very well seasoned. And of course, the chips gave a nice crunchy texture, as they tend to do when you put them on a sandwich. Which was good, because it combined nicely with the pepper jack cheese to give it a nice spice flavor without being to hot. However, because the chunks were so big, I was able to get them of fairly easy while still leaving some of the dip behind for flavor. I neglected to extrapolate the statement about it being a house made dip to the fact that it would probably have big ol’ chunks of onion in it, which it totally did. Did I get it? …No, but that’s not the burger’s fault. However, I have, on occasion, been known to enjoy a french onion dip that had the flavor of onions without actual chunks of onion in it. Now I know that some of you out there are probably thinking “But Panda, this burger has french onion dip on it, and you hate onions with a fiery passion unknown by any other living creature!” Well, yes, observant good Samaritan, you are correct. (I really feel like there is a life lesson here). ![]() I really wanted to order the BBQ bacon burger on DLux’s menu, but I said “ No, Panda, every time you do that, it’s never as good as you want it to be, and then you have nothing to write about. S’up folks! I am returned to you with stories of new burgers! This burger, the Couch Potato, was a step outside my comfort zone. This burger boasts: house made french onion dip, pepper jack cheese, potato chips But they do have ridiculous bottomless drinks and fries, so I would wholeheartedly suggest you give this place a try.įinal Thoughts- This is a good burger. The restaurant- Red Robin is, as I mentioned, a chain, and behaves as such. I guess it’s for you to decide, burger bloggers! My father disagrees, he felt that the roll’s texture did not do the burger any favors. The jalapeno-cornmeal kaiser roll also provided a very slight sweetness that I feel like this burger really needs. The patty was surprisingly flavorful for a chain restaurant, and I really like how the chipotle aioli provides both a smokey spiciness and a creaminess that I thought worked very well together. ![]() And the rest of the burger followed in similar fashion. ![]() I mean look at that pepper! That is a whole roasted jalapeno atop my burger, ladies and gentlemen. Suffice to say, when this burger came out, I was quite impressed. I like a sloppy diner chain as much as the next girl, but they aren’t know for their ground-breaking culinary feats. The burger- It been suggested to me by my parents to try a Red Robin burger for one of my upcoming burger blogs, but I have to admit that I was skeptical. This burger boasts- fried jalapenos, salsa, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and chipotle aioli on a jalapeno-cornmeal kaiser roll Burnin’ Love Burger- Red Robin, Many Cities Across the Country
